About Us

Our Story

Motor City Music Club (MCMC) was founded in 2018 by J.P. Kraft, Jr. under the original name Music! Not Mischief USA. Inspired by the work of his friend Mike Carparelli of Carparelli Guitars in Toronto, he sought to bring a similar program to the United States.

From the beginning, our mission has been to give students from every socio-economic and family background access to meaningful music education and engagement opportunities.

In 2025, MCMC partnered with New City Kids Detroit, bringing their After School Center and Teen Life Internship under the MCMC umbrella. This expansion allows us to reach more young people in Detroit and transform communities through the power of music-making. We continue to grow through collaborations like our joint program with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan.

Whether we're mentoring one student or working with hundreds through partnerships, MCMC is raising up the next generation of Detroit musicians.
